Elizabeth Yake
President / Producer
Elizabeth Yake founded TWF in April 2002 to focus on creating
high-quality entertaining products for the world market
with a particular emphasis on international co-productions.
Before Elizabeth was one of the producers on “Everything’s
Gone Green” in 2005/2006, she produced Michael Dowse’s
“It’s All Gone Pete Tong”, a Canada/UK
co-production, which premiered at the 2004 Toronto International
Film Festival, winning Best Canadian Feature and was named
one of Canada’s Top Ten Films 2004. Further awards
include Best Feature and Best Actor at the HBO US Comedy
Arts Festival in Aspen, Grand Jury Award for Best Feature
and Audience Award at the Gen Art Film Festival in New York
City, and three Leo Awards in BC including Best Feature-Length
Drama.
Also in 2004, Elizabeth service-produced
“Miss Texas” for German broadcaster SAT.1 and
Studio Hamburg.
Prior to establishing True West Films, Elizabeth Yake was
the Founder and President of the Toronto-based production
company, Subjective Eye Inc.
Elizabeth has produced such award-winning films as: “Mile
Zero” (2001) - Best First Feature Award at the 2002
Victoria International Film Festival, “Desire”
(2000), which garnered 2002 Genie Award Nominations for
Best Actress and Best Actor, “Shoemaker” (1997)
– Audience Award and Ecumenic Award Winner at the
Mannheim Heidelberg International Film Festival (Germany)
and Genie Nominations for Best Actress and Best Supporting
Actor, and “The Feeler” (1995).
Elizabeth has a B.A. in Honors Economics and Philosophy
and a B.A.A. in Media Arts/Film. She worked as an independent
film distributor and filmmaker before attending The Canadian
Film Centre to train as a producer.
