In a forgotten neighbourhood of Toronto, two reclusive
shoemakers run Mr. Happy Shoe Repair. Fragile yet
deliberate, Carey polishes shoes while the overprotective
Paul looks after the books. Their insular world begins
to unravel when Carey encounters Anna at a grocery
store and her sensuous glance steals his heart. Desparate
to see her again, Carey places a personal ad. Worried
about Carey's mental limitations and lack of experience,
Paul cautions him not to have romantic expectations.
But Paul's words evaporate when Anna shows up at the
shop and Carey's all-or-nothing heart begins a tremulous
journey.
