Synopsis
"The Altered States of America" challenges the idea of what it means to be an American as first time filmmaker Kristin MacCary picks up her camera and takes a road trip across America. MacCary living in Canada and in the process of becoming a Canadian returns to the home of the brave and through the lens of a “citizen with a camera”, examines the isolationist nature of U.S. culture, education, and media. She repeatedly asks why the generation that voted for change by electing Barack Obama doesnt have the ability to transform their nation by expanding their world vision.
From the perspective of a 20 something woman contemporary American consciousness is explored. Featuring Ani DeFranco (recording artisit), Amy Goodman (Democracy Now), comic book creator David Mack (Kabuki, Daredevil), hip hop artist Common, American educators, young activists, and Noam Chomsky.
This is not a Michael Moore film......
